The US court recently ruled that OpenAI must submit relevant recruitment records and interview materials within a specified period in the commercial secrets lawsuit filed by Apple Inc.

According to the court's order, OpenAI must submit the collected relevant documents within five days and supplementally submit the remaining requested documents within fourteen days. The scope of this discovery includes interview documents related to former Apple employees who worked in OpenAI's consumer hardware and robotics departments, including interview checklists, explanations, technical presentation slides, and LINE instant messaging records. Additionally, the court has approved the discovery of OpenAI employees Liu Chang, Peng Ailisa, and Chief Hardware Officer Tang Yaotan.

Apple previously accused former employees of using company laptops to download confidential materials containing unpublished technical specifications and proprietary project data. As OpenAI continues to advance the development of consumer-level hardware devices that may rival smartphones, the case focuses on the boundaries and compliance of major AI companies in talent acquisition and technology competition, which could have far-reaching implications for industry talent mobility and technology protection mechanisms.
