Apple has recently released the first beta version of iOS 27.2 to developers. Contrary to expectations, Apple did not launch the iOS 27.1 test version first but directly started the testing cycle for 27.2 — on September 16, Apple simultaneously pushed the first beta versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS to developers.

It is widely believed that iOS 27.1 was reserved for the first foldable iPhone Duo, which will be sold on October 23, and will come with iOS 27.1 natively.

Health App Redesign: Insights, Longevity, and Camera Self-Tests

The redesigned Health app made its debut at the September 9 event, divided into three sections: Insights, Longevity, and Browse. Insights summarizes current metrics such as vital signs, sleep, and activity. Longevity tracks long-term trends and calculates a "health age." The app also includes self-tests using the iPhone camera to measure mobility, strength, balance, and VO2 max, and it features a new icon.

However, Apple noted in the developer documentation that the new Health app will not be released with the official iOS 27.2 version, but rather later this year, initially supporting only American English. The app will work with the stronger health sensing hardware on the Apple Watch Ultra 4 and Series 12.

Siri AI Expands to More Languages, FaceTime Dual Cameras and TV Profile Sync Arrive

Siri AI was previously available in English Beta form, and in the 27.2 test version, it has expanded to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, but not yet German; due to the Digital Markets Act, Siri AI is still not available in the EU. Apple had previously stated that these languages would be released in October, and now they have entered the developer testing phase earlier.

Additionally, the Apple TV app on iPhone and iPad now supports personal profiles, including child profiles (which can restrict age ratings, defaulting to "6 years and older"), and added sign language translation options; FaceTime group calls now support using both front and rear cameras simultaneously. Germany, France, Italy, Poland, and Romania have also enabled a new tracking authorization request method.

Two Apple Intelligence features temporarily removed before the official release of iOS 27 — AI reply suggestions in the Messages app and automatic repair of weak or leaked passwords — are expected to return during the 27.2 cycle, although they are not yet present in the first test version.
