Recently, Deezer collaborated with market research company Ipsos to release a unique study on AI and music. This survey was conducted in eight countries, including the United States, Canada, Brazil, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Germany, and Japan, collecting feedback from 9,000 participants. The study results showed that most people have a strong demand for labels on AI-generated music and are concerned about copyright issues.

In a blind test, participants were asked to listen to three tracks to determine which ones were AI-generated. The results showed that as many as 97% of respondents could not tell the difference. Of these, 71% expressed surprise, while over half (52%) felt uneasy about their inability to distinguish the source of the music.

Alexis Lanternier, CEO of Deezer, stated that Deezer has always been committed to providing transparent information to users and ensuring the rights and interests of artists and creators are protected. Currently, Deezer adds approximately 50,000 tracks entirely generated by AI every day, accounting for 34% of all daily uploaded content.

The study also found that nearly half of the respondents (46%) believe AI can help them discover more music they like, and 51% expect AI to play an important role in music creation over the next decade. At the same time, 64% of people are concerned that AI may lead to a decline in the creativity of music creation.

The survey results showed that 80% of respondents support clear labeling of 100% AI-generated music, while 73% hope to know whether music platforms recommend AI-generated tracks. 65% of people believe that copyrighted materials should not be used to train AI models, and 70% believe that 100% AI-generated music threatens the livelihoods of existing and future musicians.
