The latest survey shows that artificial intelligence is accelerating into core areas of the workplace, and 2026 will be a key year for companies to replace employees with AI. According to a report released by AI Resume Builder, about 30% of companies plan to replace some employees with AI in 2026, while 21% of companies have already completed replacements in specific positions in 2025.

The survey also indicates that nearly half (49%) of companies expect to replace 10% to 45% of their existing employees with AI, and another 7% of employers say that more than half of their employee positions will be affected.

From the perspective of job distribution, customer service, administrative clerks, and IT and technical support are the jobs most likely to be replaced by AI. These fields closely align with the main application directions of AI at present, such as data analysis, meeting minutes generation, information retrieval, and document summarization. Notably, human resources (HR) and recruitment positions are also on the list of jobs that AI could replace. About 30% of employers said these positions will be involved or replaced by AI in 2026.

This report has triggered widespread employment anxiety among employees. A previous survey by Resume Now showed that as many as 89% of employees are worried about being replaced by AI. Some employees even choose to hide the fact that they use AI in their work, fearing that exposing it would make their position seem "replaceable." At the same time, Adaptavist's research also found that 35% of employees hoard knowledge due to fear of being replaced, and 38% are unwilling to train their colleagues.

Rachel Serwetz, a career consultant from AIResumeBuilder, suggests that employees want to keep their jobs in the AI era, they should actively learn AI tools related to their positions. She pointed out: "Even if AI takes over some functions, humans are still needed to manage, supervise, and optimize these AI systems."

Additionally, the survey found that 67% of business leaders believe employees with AI skills have greater job security, and job seekers with AI skills are more popular. Serwetz added: "If automation makes you lose interest in your current job, this may be a good time to re-plan your career path."
