According to Sina Technology, which obtained information from insiders, Vipshop has quietly launched its self-developed AI assistant "AI Xiaowei" recently. Developed by its internal large model team, the assistant supports text and voice conversations, helping users find products, check promotions, and inquire about discounts. The company's ambition in AI can be seen from its recruitment actions: Sina Technology found that Vipshop is offering high salaries of 50,000 to 80,000 yuan per month, equivalent to an annual salary of 600,000 to 960,000 yuan, to recruit core positions such as large model post-training, data integration, and SFT text data, accelerating the intensification of talent density.

Product Comparison in Gray Testing, Access Removed and Revised

The focus of this team is to dissect modules required by "Xiaowei," including shopping intent recognition, product understanding, recommendation generation, and multi-turn dialogue, while continuously adding data and improving shortcomings. Another feature, "AI Product Comparison," is also being refined in a gray test phase: previously, when searching for categories like sports shoes, the details page would directly pop up an AI-generated comparison module, automatically extracting selling points and listing parameters for horizontal price comparison; however, this front-end display access has been removed and revised recently. The customer service confirmed that the tool is still being iterated, with the new logic now offering two paths - selecting products in the shopping cart and clicking "Compare," or directly entering "Xiaowei" to select product comparisons.

Pressure on Performance, AI as Growth Engine

The pressure behind it is clear: Vipshop's net revenue in the second quarter of 2026 was 24.7 billion yuan, a 4.3% decline compared to the same period last year. Chairman Shen Ya referred to AI as the "key engine" driving growth and efficiency upgrades. In the context of the saturation of the flash sale business, whether investing in self-developed large models can trigger a new curve remains to be seen over time.
