According to The Information, a foreign media outlet, Meta has informed its engineers that AI Token usage will no longer be part of performance evaluations.

A recent internal memo from Meta shows that company executives Maher Saba and Santosh Janardhan jointly issued the latest performance expectations guidelines for all engineers on Tuesday local time, clearly stating that Meta "will not use AI adoption dashboards or Token usage to evaluate employee impact."

The new performance expectations guidelines removed references to specific AI tools and deleted AI usage instructions for specific tasks, instead focusing on work quality and actual impact as core evaluation dimensions. The memo also revealed that 93% of code changes within Meta are now assisted by AI agents, and the company stated that the goal is not AI adoption rate itself, but higher-quality delivery and faster iteration.

Notably, this media outlet reported in June that Meta sent an internal memo to 6,000 employees through a platform called AI Gateway to manage AI usage uniformly. Teams can view their own AI usage data, and the system automatically sends alerts when there is an unusual increase in Token spending. Meta noted in this memo that internal AI usage is growing rapidly, and the AI tools used by employees this year may cost hundreds of billions of dollars.
