Microsoft introduces the Change History feature for Excel, designed for tracking modifications in collaborative workbooks. Over time, teams often struggle to quickly determine when a piece of data was changed, who made the change, and whether the change affected other calculations.

Ask Copilot a natural language question to sort out the changes

Change History reads existing edit records in Excel and generates modification descriptions using Copilot's reasoning capabilities. Users can directly ask questions in natural language to understand important changes that occurred in a specific time period. This feature summarizes specific modification content, the impact of the changes, and the relevant editors.

In addition, this feature uses different colors to mark user edits and Copilot-assisted modifications, allowing team members to quickly identify whether an anomaly comes from manual operations or AI-assisted changes.
