Just seven days after its release, the open-source intelligent agent tool DeepSeek Harness has already received a new version update, officially introducing enhanced multimodal support. With this update, the DeepSeek model adapter now supports configuring and enabling native image requests, sparking widespread speculation about the imminent release of DeepSeek's own visual model.
With the improvement of the underlying architecture, this update brings several practical improvements in user experience. Previously, commands such as /goal and /plan only supported text transmission, but now they fully support sending images along with text; at the same time, the scope of @ references has expanded from simple file extensions to historical conversations. This means developers can now attach screenshots, local files, and previous conversation content in a single query. To ensure the stability of complex workflows, the new version not only supports persistent image attachments for both MCP and ACP, so that attachments do not disappear after a single call ends, but also successfully fixed issues caused by excessively large image sizes and high payload accumulation of historical images in multi-turn conversations.

In addition to the upgrade of multimodal capabilities, the new version has also made significant moves in component distribution and architectural optimization. Claude Code and Codex are no longer distributed together with the main product, but have instead been transformed into Profile Bundles that can be installed on demand. Among them, Codex has introduced two new features: first, it supports non-interactive permission mode, allowing it to run smoothly in unattended processes; second, it supports multiple named instances, allowing multiple Codex sub-agents with different configurations and names to coexist simultaneously. At the same time, the "report path" of the sub-agent has also been optimized, and reportDelivery can now promptly feedback and wake up the parent task, eliminating the parent task's problem of blindly waiting for the sub-task to finish.

In terms of other feature optimizations, web_search now supports concurrent queries, the Windows PTY terminal has officially added support for persistent PowerShell sessions, and this feature is now enabled by default in the minimalist mode. The read and write performance, as well as the fork performance, of the SQLite backend have also been significantly improved, and the storage volume has been further reduced. In addition, the official has confirmed that "DeepSeek Harness" has been registered as a trademark, and related brand usage guidelines have been updated accordingly.
