In response to the emerging security risks brought by AI accelerating the development of cyber-attack tools, Apple has announced today that it is adjusting its long-standing operating system update mechanism. Security patches that previously required waiting for a major version update will now be made available to all users in advance.
This move signifies that Apple has officially acknowledged that the involvement of AI technology has significantly reduced the time window for attackers to find and exploit known vulnerabilities, and the traditional model of centralized release of security patches can no longer effectively address the current threat landscape.

Traditionally, unless facing confirmed "zero-day" vulnerabilities that have been exploited, Apple usually followed a fixed testing and release cycle. For example, between the current iOS 26.5 and the planned iOS 26.6, the new version would undergo multiple rounds of testing by developers and testers before being released to the market.
However, in the face of increasingly efficient and automated malicious software development driven by AI, the "time gap" between the public release of security patches and their arrival on user devices has become a vulnerability in the defense line. Although there is currently no evidence that specific vulnerabilities being fixed in this round have been maliciously exploited, Apple's decision to proactively release the latest round of security updates to all users demonstrates its determination to shorten the defense response cycle.
