American legal AI unicorn Harvey announced that it has developed a legal-specific model called Harvey Tenet, based on the open-weight model Kimi K3 from Moonshot AI, using post-training technology. This means that China's open-weight model has entered the training system of a leading US vertical AI company for the first time.

Previously, Harvey mainly relied on closed-source models such as OpenAI and Anthropic to provide legal services, covering over 2,400 organizations and more than 200,000 lawyers, with clients including numerous world-class corporate legal departments.

Public information shows its current valuation is $1.1 billion, with an annualized revenue of about $350 million, making it the most highly valued legal AI unicorn. It is currently starting a new round of funding at a valuation of about $1.55 billion. From relying on closed-source models to adopting a Chinese open-source foundation, the implementation of Tenet also reflects the growing practical trust in open-weight models in vertical markets.
