The AI giant OpenAI has officially announced a major update for its core AI agent assistant Codex, introducing six new job-specific plugins at once. This upgrade covers 62 frequently used applications and 110 professional skills in depth, marking a disruptive expansion of the tool's application scenarios.

As the most representative agent product under OpenAI, Codex initially mainly served programmers to assist with coding. Now, its ecosystem has seen explosive growth, with the weekly active user count successfully breaking through the 5 million mark. Notably, non-developer users now account for about 20% of the total user base, and their growth rate is more than three times faster than that of traditional developers. These rapidly emerging new users are widely distributed across fields such as data analysts, marketers, operations experts, designers, researchers, and investment bankers and investors. To meet this trend, OpenAI has precisely launched exclusive plugin packages targeting six mainstream job roles: data analysis, creative production, sales, product design, public stock investment, and investment banking, aiming to package specific job applications, skills, and workflows in one click.

In terms of specific features, the new plugins bring productivity-level improvements for different job roles. For example, the data analysis plugin seamlessly connects to mainstream databases and industry tools such as Snowflake, Databricks Genie, Hex, and Tableau, helping teams directly query business data, interpret metric fluctuations, and generate visual dashboards with one click. The creative production plugin is specifically designed for marketing teams, quickly transforming dry briefs into diverse ad variations, event boards, product promotional images, or lifestyle illustrations. In addition, the system also provides preview capabilities for creating interactive websites and applications for commercial and enterprise users. Team members can simply access a unique URL to view project boards or lightweight tool progress in a shared virtual workspace, provide real-time feedback, and make decisions.

To make AI intervention more accurate, Codex has also expanded its refined "annotation editing" feature for documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. Whether in navigation bars of interactive websites, core statements of investment arguments, or complex chart labels in slides, users can directly select specific text, allowing Codex to "edit where it points," making micro-adjustments only at specified locations, completely eliminating the inefficient mode of rewriting on a large scale.
