Google has officially released the Chrome browser version 148 update, which introduces many new features, especially significant improvements in AI-driven auto-fill and form tools. Users can now ask the AI agent directly in the address bar or new tab, and the AI will aggregate relevant information and answer complex questions in natural language. Users can also ask follow-up questions using clarification prompts.

Regarding auto-fill, Chrome 148 allows users to use AI mode to help fill in credit card numbers and addresses with their consent. Additionally, the built-in Gemini chatbot feature has been expanded to 49 countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific area, further enhancing the user experience. On Android devices, the new enhanced auto-fill feature in Chrome can understand web forms and automatically fill in corresponding fields based on how users have filled them before. It also adds support for auto-filling government-issued identifiers stored in Google Wallet, such as driver's license numbers and passport numbers.

In terms of the user interface, Chrome 148 has made adjustments to the visual design of the profile creation interface, but the functionality remains unchanged. In addition, the Android version introduces a new setting that allows websites to use approximate location instead of exact location, which is positively significant for protecting user privacy. ChromeOS also sees new changes, now supporting vertical tab bars.

Regarding developer tools, this update enhances support for HTTP/3 and introduces a new Prompt API for interacting with large language models. Developers can use this API to process text, images, and audio input and obtain structured results. At the same time, optimizations for CSS and media element loading have also been improved, enhancing browser performance.

In terms of security, Chrome 148 has fixed 127 vulnerabilities, including three security issues rated as critical. These fixes will enhance browser security and protect user data from attacks. Google also paid a total of approximately $138,000 in rewards to researchers who discovered these vulnerabilities, demonstrating its emphasis on security research.
