General Motors (GM) has officially announced that it will collaborate deeply with Google to roll out the Gemini AI Assistant to approximately 4 million vehicles across the United States. This initiative will cover 2022 model year and newer Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC brand vehicles, becoming one of the largest generative AI deployments in the automotive industry so far.

Deep Integration with OnStar, Creating an "Intelligent" Assistant

Different from traditional phone mirroring, the introduced Gemini AI will be deeply integrated with the vehicle's native infotainment system. By accessing the in-vehicle Google service platform and leveraging the strong connectivity capabilities of OnStar (Anji Star), the AI assistant will no longer be just a voice broadcasting tool but will better perceive the vehicle's status and understand the driver's intent, providing a more targeted and personalized interaction experience.

Expanding Beyond the U.S., Global Owners May Soon Enjoy AI Upgrades

In addition to the initial rollout in the North American market, GM has clearly stated that the Gemini update plan will gradually expand to other global markets. To adapt to different regional driving environments, the AI assistant will also support more languages over time.
