Opera announced on Thursday the launch of a new feature that allows users to integrate more AI chatbots into their browser. This free feature, called "Browser Connector," is available for Opera One and Opera GX browsers, enabling users to access AI tools like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) during real-time browsing.

MCP is an open standard developed by Anthropic, designed to establish secure two-way connections between AI models, external data sources, and search engines. Last month, Opera also introduced MCP compatibility in its subscription-based smart AI browser, Opera Neon. Opera stated that this new feature will allow users to choose their preferred AI tools and receive contextual information about the currently opened tabs and content in real time.
Moahmed Salah, Senior Product Director at Opera, said in a statement: "With the Browser Connector, Opera ensures users are no longer limited to a single company's ecosystem but can freely combine the tools that best suit their needs." This feature is now available in early bird mode. Users need to search for "AI service" in the browser settings, install the Browser Connector, and then connect to ChatGPT or Claude to use it.
As AI technology advances, Opera's new feature not only enhances the browsing experience but also provides users with more freedom and flexibility. Whether for work or entertainment, users can choose the most suitable AI assistant at any time to obtain information and complete tasks.
