Anthropic has recently updated the Claude for Excel and Claude for PowerPoint plugins with new features, including shared context, reusable workflows, and broader cloud platform support, further enhancing Claude's collaborative capabilities in enterprise office and data analysis scenarios. This update allows the two plugins to share conversation context within the same session, enabling Claude to continuously read Excel cell data, generate or modify formulas, and synchronize edits to PowerPoint slides without requiring users to re-enter information, thus improving efficiency in cross-document and cross-task operations.

At the same time, Anthropic introduced a new feature called "Skills." This feature is essentially a reusable automated workflow that teams can package into one-click tasks and share within the organization. For example, companies can create skill modules for financial model reviews, data analysis, or presentation structure assessments, standardizing repetitive processes. The official also provided pre-installed starter skill kits covering multiple common office scenarios to help users get started quickly.
In terms of infrastructure, the deployment channels for both plugins have been further expanded. Currently, Claude for Excel and Claude for PowerPoint are supported through Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry, allowing enterprises to choose the appropriate cloud service environment based on their technical architecture for deployment. Anthropic stated that these new features are now available to paid users on Mac and Windows platforms.
Notably, these capabilities were gradually introduced in the main Claude application, especially in its collaborative Cowork mode. This mode allows the AI to continuously perform and manage complex operations over longer task chains and has already been integrated into some workflow scenarios in Microsoft Copilot. With the upgrade of plugin capabilities, Anthropic is further extending Claude's task automation and collaboration abilities into the mainstream office software ecosystem, enhancing the practical application depth of AI in enterprise productivity tools.
