Robotics AI startup Skild AI recently announced a $1.4 billion Series C funding round. With this round of financing, the Pittsburgh-based company's valuation has surged to $14 billion, tripling since last summer. The investment lineup is impressive, led by SoftBank, with participation from industry giants such as NVentures (a subsidiary of NVIDIA), Bezos Expeditions, Amazon, Samsung, and Salesforce Ventures.
Skild AI's core vision is to develop a general-purpose robotic foundation model called "Skild Brain." Unlike traditional models designed for specific tasks, this "brain" has an "omni-bodied" feature, enabling it to adapt and control various forms of robots—from humanoid robots, quadrupedal robots, to robotic arms, even without prior knowledge of the robot's specific structure.
By analyzing videos of human activities combined with large-scale physical simulation training, Skild AI's model demonstrates strong environmental adaptability. Whether handling daily household tasks like washing dishes or tackling complex tasks like navigating slippery terrain, it can adjust in real time. The company's CEO, Deepak Pathak, said that this unified brain model allows robots to learn "adaptation" rather than just "memorization," through a continuous data flywheel effect, similar to biological evolution.
After achieving $30 million in revenue in 2025, Skild AI plans to use the new funding to further expand the scale of model training and ultimately focus on bringing robots to the consumer market.
Key Points:
💰 Valuation Surge:Skild AI successfully raised $1.4 billion, increasing its valuation three times within less than a year to $14 billion.
🧠 General-Purpose Brain: Its developed Skild Brain is the first "omni-bodied" foundational model in the industry, allowing any form of robot to learn how to perform diverse tasks and achieve cross-hardware compatibility.
🚀 Top-Notch Endorsement: The heavy investment from top-tier capital such as SoftBank, NVIDIA, and Bezos shows the market's high recognition of general-purpose robotic AI software solutions.
