This week, three songs created by artificial intelligence achieved great success on music charts and successfully topped the Spotify and Billboard popular charts. "Walk My Walk" and "Livin’ on Borrowed Time" created by Breaking Rust ranked at the top of the "Viral 50" chart on Spotify in the United States, while a Dutch anti-immigration song named "We Say No, No, No to an Asylum Center" topped the global Spotify chart. Breaking Rust also occupied the top five positions on the global chart.

The lyrics of "Walk My Walk" include the line "If you don't like the way I speak, you can go your own way," which seems to challenge those who oppose AI music. Surprisingly, this Dutch anti-immigration song disappeared from Spotify and YouTube shortly after climbing the charts. The copyright holder stated that it was not the platform's issue, while Broken Veteran said he was confused about the situation and hoped the music would be published again as soon as possible.
According to a recent study by Deezer, AI-generated music is growing at an astonishing rate, with 50,000 AI songs uploaded daily on the platform, accounting for 34% of all submitted music. These three songs are not the first AI-created works to attract widespread attention; as early as summer, a team called Velvet Sundown had already accumulated over one million streaming plays through AI music.
The rise of AI music is also due to its rapid spread. Many creators use online music distribution services such as DistroKid to upload their AI works to major platforms. The policies of these platforms towards AI-created content are relatively lenient, allowing more and more individual creators to create music at home and release it quickly.
In a survey of 9,000 people, 97% could not tell the difference between AI-generated music and human-created music. This shows that the quality of AI music has significantly improved, with many works almost indistinguishable from those created by humans.
