Automattic Reaches Agreement with AI Companies on Training Data, Tumblr Owner Involved in Data Sharing


The AI company Articul8, incubated by Intel, quickly rose after its establishment in early 2024. Recently, it announced that the $700 million Series B financing has completed half of the target, with a pre-money valuation of $500 million, which is five times higher than the $100 million valuation after the Series A round. The round was led by Adara Ventures, with follow-on investments from Aditya Birla Ventures and others, highlighting the market's preference for vertical-specific, controllable, and audit-friendly enterprise-level AI solutions.

Automattic plans to share data with third parties, including training data obtained from user posts. The company has scraped all public post content from Tumblr from 2014 to 2023, including content that will not be publicly displayed.
