To meet the significant funding needs of artificial intelligence infrastructure, Broadcom is actively raising large amounts of private debt. According to insiders, Broadcom is in talks with institutions such as Apollo Global Management and Blackstone Group, aiming to raise over $50 billion to support OpenAI's custom AI chip project.
Previously, both parties reached a cooperation agreement, planning to deploy 10 gigawatts of custom AI chip systems between the second half of 2026 and the end of 2029. This financing is expected to be completed by the end of this year, mainly to ensure the smooth implementation of OpenAI-related chip production capacity.
Major players continue to follow, private debt financing heats up
In addition to the collaboration project with OpenAI, Broadcom is also arranging up to $6 billion in new AI chip financing for companies such as Anthropic. Relevant banks have started syndicated distribution, with Blackstone Group leading the underwriting of the $18 billion junior debt portion.
At the same time, Oracle and SpaceX are also actively raising large sums of money for purchasing AI chips and data center construction. Strong demand for AI computing power is prompting major tech companies to accelerate obtaining funding support through private debt channels.
