The AI photography app Superpose, founded by a former TikTok executive, has officially launched, positioning itself as a "photo teaching tool." Within about two months of its release, it has been downloaded over 22,000 times.

Superpose was co-launched by former TikTok executives Melody Chu and Jing Liu. It uses AI to provide four posture suggestions to help users improve their posture, angle, and composition. When asked about the motivation behind launching the app, Chu said the creative inspiration came from her personal needs - her husband often couldn't take ideal photos, so she decided to integrate computer vision and generative AI into daily photography scenarios. Liu previously worked on image and video models at TikTok. The company they co-founded is reported to have secured $2.2 million (approximately 14.799 million RMB) in seed funding.

Don't Change the Background, Just Teach You How to Stand

In terms of technical implementation, Superpose starts with the "photo view," using AI to provide posture and composition advice, aiming to improve the actual shooting experience without involving large-scale background replacement - which clearly differs from the current approach of many one-click generated, face or background changing AI cameras.

Future improvements will include optimizing generation styles, diversifying personalized recommendations, and enhancing the ability to guide in framing perspectives to reduce the "weirdness" of the generated results.

As of now, Superpose has exceeded 22,000 downloads, with users generating nearly 190,000 poses, indicating that the market demand for convenient "posture teaching + instant guidance" is growing.

In terms of pricing, the app offers 5 free generations per day, followed by monthly packages, with prices ranging between $2.99 (approximately 20.1 RMB) for 5 generations and $9.99 (approximately 67.2 RMB) for 20 generations, providing tiered options for different user payment intentions.
