Atty Eleti, the head of OpenAI's voice products, announced on September 10 that in the ChatGPT Voice mode, users can freely choose the desired model and the depth of reasoning. The Pro plan allows access to GPT-5.6 Sol or GPT-6 Astra. When network search or complex reasoning is required, the voice mode will automatically use the specified model.

According to him, every time the voice mode hands over a question to the underlying text model for processing, it is considered as a message sent to that model.

Four-tier Plan Quotas Announced, Three-tier Voice Intelligence Levels Discontinued

OpenAI also simplified the daily usage limit rules for GPT-Live:

  • Go: Provides up to 3 hours of GPT-Live-1 mini usage time, no longer provides access to GPT-Live-1;
  • Plus: Provides up to 3 hours of GPT-Live-1 usage time;
  • Pro (100 dollars/month): Provides up to 15 hours of GPT-Live-1 usage time;
  • Pro (200 dollars/month): Unrestricted use of GPT-Live-1.

After exhausting their voice quotas, Plus and Pro users will no longer be downgraded to GPT-Live mini. With this update, the original three independent voice intelligence levels "Instant / Medium / High" have been officially discontinued.
