Zhipu recently confirmed that the anonymous open-source model Ox Alpha, which has attracted attention from developers on OpenRouter recently, was developed by them. This model is the latest version of the GLM series. Previously, Ox Alpha was launched on OpenRouter under the name of the anonymous "Stealth" model and achieved outstanding performance in various benchmark tests and rankings, sparking widespread speculation within the community about its developer.
Zhipu stated that the model weights of Ox Alpha will be made available on Wednesday, allowing developers to conduct secondary development based on this model. The model is positioned as a reasoning model for coding, continuous intelligence work, and production environment tasks, mainly used for long-term software engineering, complex reasoning, and multimodal workflows that combine text and visual contexts.
According to the introduction, Ox Alpha maintains technical connections with the previous GLM series models from Z.ai. This series of models has also been used in related AI security testing scenarios recently, and Hugging Face successfully defended against attacks from OpenAI agents using the GLM series models. The public disclosure of Ox Alpha's identity also means that Z.ai is further expanding its open-source model ecosystem.
The emergence of Ox Alpha further highlights the competitiveness of Chinese AI companies in the field of open-source large models.
