Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic has officially announced that the 50% usage quota increase for its AI coding assistant Claude Code will be extended. The promotional offer, originally set to end on August 19, has now been confirmed to be extended until August 31, 2026. In addition, the Anthropic team is also exploring the possibility of making this temporary quota adjustment a permanent standard feature, aiming to provide developers with more ample and stable AI coding support.

Looking back at the introduction of this major benefit, Anthropic first announced it on July 19. At that time, the company decided to offer an additional 50% usage quota per week for its paid subscription users, specifically those with Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise subscriptions.

Developers should note that this quota mechanism is not calculated separately. Web-based conversations, desktop applications, and Claude Code all share the same quota pool. This means that regardless of the terminal or interface used, any quota consumption will be deducted from the total weekly quota, and switching models cannot bypass the already consumed weekly quota limits. This extended benefit undoubtedly allows the aforementioned paid users to handle high-intensity development tasks more confidently.
