xAI launched the beta version of Grok Bot, positioned as a "permanent AI agent team": each agent has its own cloud computer, can log into users' existing tools, and independently complete multi-step tasks without supervision. Unlike previous automation processes that required users to issue step-by-step commands, the core design of Grok Bot allows agents to work like human employees - even if you turn off your laptop, the task will continue in the cloud, and it will only return to you when approval is needed.

Users can communicate with the Bot via desktop or iOS, just like sending messages to a colleague. They can also demonstrate a workflow on the spot for the Bot to learn, after which it will save the steps and automatically repeat the execution. Multiple Bots can run in parallel, send messages to each other, share discussion threads, and even assign and claim tasks within work chat groups. xAI describes this as a "team with a supervisor," not a pile of automated tools that users need to manage manually. xAI revealed that the product initially started as an internal prototype, with teams such as sales outreach, marketing campaigns, office operations, and bug fixes already using it.

Selling the product bundled, not as a standalone

Grok Bot's business approach is quite unique: it is not sold separately but bundled into three existing paid subscription tiers. Cursor Ultra costs $200 per month, including a dedicated computer for the Bot, tool access, scheduled tasks, and desktop and mobile access; Cursor Premium Teams costs $120 per seat per month, offering additional features such as centralized billing, a team skills marketplace, and enterprise single sign-on; xAI's top-tier SuperGrok Heavy subscribers directly get Grok Bot, and enterprise customers are currently on a waiting list.

This strategy of "embedding agents into users' existing paid subscriptions" has lower costs than selling seats from scratch, and it deeply ties xAI's agent strategy to Cursor. The download, setup, guidance process, and sales integration are all handled through Cursor's infrastructure, making the product stacks of both companies visibly intertwined on the launch day. Internal use cases within xAI point to a market proposition: agents with dedicated computers can "take on a role" rather than just assist with a task. Sales outreach Bots can research clients overnight and draft emails in the salesperson's tone, demo-ready Bots check the environment in advance and fix bad data, and Bots handle CRM record organization, invoice processing, helping new employees onboard, and reproducing bugs before handing them over to debugging Bots - these tasks usually correspond to those of a junior or operational staff member, while the Grok Bot subscription price is far below the cost of a full-time salary. An Android app is planned for the future, and enterprise access continues to be available through a waiting list.
