Adobe's collaboration with OpenAI has expanded significantly today. Users can now directly call more than 70 Adobe tools such as Photoshop, Premiere, Acrobat, Lightroom, Illustrator, and InDesign in ChatGPT to complete tasks such as photo editing, marketing video production, and PDF generation.

At the end of last year, Adobe had already integrated Photoshop, Acrobat, and Adobe Express into ChatGPT using OpenAI's Apps SDK. Starting August 6th, the scope of the collaboration expanded to almost the entire creative software suite. After adding the Adobe plugin on the plugin page in the ChatGPT settings menu, users can simply type "@Adobe" and a specific task in the prompt input box to call the corresponding tool.

Adobe stated that the plugin works best when used in conjunction with OpenAI's Codex programming application and the recently released Work suite. Users can use basic features without logging into a Creative Cloud account, and after logging in, they can save work progress across different sessions and directly access cloud files. A Creative Cloud account can also be used to call the generative AI models provided by Adobe Firefly.

Forrest Key, Vice President of Adobe Firefly and AI Agents at Adobe, said: "We hope that no matter where people work, they can use Adobe's professional creative and productivity tools." However, he also emphasized that the Adobe plugin in ChatGPT is not a replacement for flagship applications, "when precise operations and full control over the creative process are needed, the flagship applications can still provide deeper functionality."

This collaboration signifies that ChatGPT is evolving from a conversational tool into a "super workspace," allowing users to complete creative production processes without switching between multiple software applications. For Adobe, this is a strategic move to embed its own tool ecosystem into AI-native workflows; for OpenAI, it is another initiative to expand the practical scenarios of ChatGPT and enhance user engagement.
