NVIDIA announced on July 24 an investment agreement worth $1 billion (approximately 6.778 billion Chinese yuan) with South Korean internet giant Naver, aiming to expand the previously deployed NVIDIA DSX AI factory to 200 megawatts. This marks another significant move by NVIDIA in its AI infrastructure layout in the Asia-Pacific region, aimed at providing computing power support for AI innovation enterprises in South Korea and the United States.

Backed by Brookfield, total investment targets 9 billion dollars

This collaboration is not solely led by NVIDIA. NVIDIA has also introduced Brookfield Asset Management as a partner, planning to provide up to 9 billion dollars (approximately 61 billion Chinese yuan) in financial support. Since entering the South Korean market in 2014, Brookfield has been a long-term investor in the country, currently managing about 12 billion dollars in South Korean assets, covering infrastructure, real estate, and energy sectors, and has deep local operational roots.

The expanded NVIDIA DSX AI factory will adopt NVIDIA's latest platforms such as Vera Rubin and Blackwell, focusing on the development needs of next-generation AI large models, agents, and AI services. Notably, Naver's ambitions go beyond 200 megawatts - the company plans to further expand its infrastructure scale to 1 gigawatt and launch an AI Agent platform based on NVIDIA's Agent Toolkit this year. From computing infrastructure to application layer platforms, Naver is trying to simultaneously drive upstream and downstream in the AI industry chain, building a complete local AI ecosystem loop.
