The rapid development of artificial intelligence technology has made voice cloning accessible, but it also brings new challenges to social order and personal property security. The Ministry of State Security recently issued a security alert, thoroughly analyzing the risks and hidden dangers behind AI voice cloning technology.

Current AI voice cloning can sample at an extremely fast speed, even accurately replicating a voice with just three to five seconds of audio samples. The success rate for ordinary people to identify such high-quality forged voice is less than 50% without any warning.

Additionally, many online platforms have introduced "one-click cloning" features, greatly lowering the threshold for abuse of this technology. When voices are no longer trustworthy, criminals begin using synthesized voices to fabricate urgent situations and commit fraud.

Various infringement issues frequently occur; legal red lines must not be crossed

Aside from acquaintance fraud, using AI to forge celebrities' voices for commercial promotion and traffic generation is also common. Worse still, some maliciously clone the voices of public officials to create false statements and policy interpretations, seriously misleading the public.

In response to these issues, China has established a complete legal regulatory system covering civil, administrative, and criminal aspects. Unauthorized cloning or spreading of others' voices is considered an infringement, and using this technology to commit crimes will result in severe criminal penalties.

Online platforms must effectively fulfill their primary responsibilities, strengthening the cleanup and review of illegal tools. The general public should also enhance their awareness of prevention, properly protect their own voiceprint information, and ensure multiple verifications when involving financial operations.
