Netflix recently disclosed in regulatory filings that the company has completed the acquisition of AI film production startup InterPositive for $587 million in cash. The transaction was previously announced in March, but the exact amount was not disclosed at the time; Bloomberg had previously reported that the deal could be as high as $600 million.

InterPositive was co-founded by actor and director Ben Affleck, and focuses on using artificial intelligence technology to assist in the film production process. Affleck stated that the company aims to "protect the power of human creativity" through AI tools, helping film production teams improve efficiency during the post-production phase, especially in addressing issues such as missing footage from real-world shoots, background replacement, and lighting adjustments.

According to information previously released by Netflix, the InterPositive team will join Netflix as a whole after the acquisition, and Affleck will serve as a senior advisor, continuing to participate in the advancement of related technologies and creative directions.

At the same time, Netflix revealed in its latest financial report that approximately 300 films are now using generative AI technology.
