According to the official account "Step Terminal," Step Star will hold a "Step Terminal Brand and Next-Generation Agent Strategy Launch Event" at 7:00 PM on July 13, with the theme focusing on "the true agent of the Agent Era." Combined with the recent pre-release content from the official account "StepFun," this launch is expected to bring a new generation of agent terminal products.

According to a previous report by the Science and Technology Daily, Step Star is about to launch an AI terminal brand, an agent system, and its first AI agent phone. Notably, OpenAI has previously publicly bet on the next generation of AI terminals, but plans to launch it only in 2027. Step Star's early implementation of the AI agent phone makes it the first player among global large model manufacturers to take this step.

Huqin Technology undertakes deep manufacturing, not a simple OEM model

In terms of manufacturing, according to a source cited by Blue Whale News, the AI agent phone that Step Star will launch is manufactured by Huqin Technology, a listed company in China's A-share market. The two parties are not simply in an OEM relationship, but have a deeply integrated partnership. Huqin Technology is a leading company in the global smart hardware ODM industry, with shipments of smartphones, laptops, and tablets exceeding 10% globally. Moreover, it had already made a strategic investment during Step Star's B+ round financing, and continued to increase its investment in the subsequent C-round financing.

From cloud-based large models to edge-side hardware, Step Star is trying to prove with a "native agent phone" that the future of large model companies is not just APIs, but end-to-end AI terminal experiences. The launch event on July 13 may provide an answer from Chinese large model companies.
