Meta has officially launched its new AI image generation model, Muse Image, which is the first image generation model released by Meta's Super Intelligence Lab. The model is available for free through the Meta AI app and is also now available on the social platforms Instagram and WhatsApp. Users can quickly generate high-quality images by simply describing their needs in conversational language, greatly reducing the usage barrier.

It's more than just "drawing pictures," it can erase people, render text, and redecorate rooms

Muse Image's capabilities go far beyond simple text-to-image generation. It can simulate a photo of you standing in front of historical landmarks, cleanly remove distracting people in the background, and even generate directly usable QR codes with custom prompts. More practically, the model can clearly render text in the image, allowing users to create operation guides or information graphics on specific topics.

To lower the usage barrier, Meta AI includes a preset prompt panel, offering one-click functions such as repairing old photos, viewing how you look with a popular hairstyle, transforming selfies into claymation characters or 16-bit game heroes. After taking a photo, users can also let Meta AI redesign a room using real products from Facebook Marketplace, intuitively viewing the space effect under different styles — this is not just image generation, but a "AI version of an interior designer."

Muse Spark handles the background scheduling, with 30 effects enhancing Instagram Stories

During the creation process, Muse Image works with Muse Spark to complete multi-step background planning, including layout arrangements, searching for real-time web information, and intelligently merging multiple visual references. Users can mention an Instagram account within the Meta AI app to incorporate public photos into image creation, a feature that can be turned off at any time. If modifications are needed, clicking the tag icon allows direct drawing, sketching, or annotation editing on the image; the AI will remember the full conversation context, making it easy to continuously adjust the style or add/remove elements.

In addition to image generation, Muse Image provides over 30 AI effects for Instagram Stories, including various customizable filters. Currently, the feature of generating images through direct conversations with Meta AI on WhatsApp is already available in some countries and regions. Regular creation is free to use, and after exceeding the quota, a paid Meta subscription plan is required. In the future, Muse Image will expand to more interfaces such as Facebook and Messenger, and advertisers will also be able to call this model through Advantage+ creative. Meta also revealed that another video generation model, Muse Video, is already in development, forming a dual-track layout of images and videos.
