As artificial intelligence rapidly permeates various industries, the anxiety of American society regarding job prospects has significantly increased. According to a recent nationwide survey, nearly half of Americans have begun to worry that they or their family members may lose their jobs due to the popularity of AI. This sense of unease is widespread across different age groups, genders, and levels of education, reflecting the public's general concern about technological changes.

Workplace Anxiety Continues to Spread

The direct trigger for this spreading anxiety is the recent announcement of AI-related layoffs by several large companies. For example, the software giant Intuit recently cut 17% of its global workforce to streamline operations and focus on AI business. Although macroeconomic data shows that the U.S. overall job market remains strong, the fear of unemployment caused by high technology has deeply touched the nerves of ordinary people.

Political and Social Divides Deepen

Interestingly, voters with different political views have shown varying degrees of concern when facing the impact of AI. The survey shows that 61% of Democratic supporters are concerned about the threat of AI to their family's livelihood, while the proportion among Republican supporters is 47%. On a broader scale, over 70% of respondents are worried about the excessive use of AI in society, not only concerning jobs, but also ethical risks and mental health impacts brought by the technology have become focal points of discussion.
