The graphics processing giant NVIDIA has recently been exposed to have completed a significant asset acquisition. According to insiders, NVIDIA has acquired the U.S. enterprise customized AI model startup Kumo for at least $400 million (approximately 2.7 billion yuan). NVIDIA executives had briefly publicly expressed their welcome for Kumo's team on social media, although this post was later deleted, multiple sources have confirmed that the deal has been finalized.

Top Academic and Industry Talent Join Forces

Kumo was founded in 2022 and is a technology company focused on providing predictive AI software to enterprises. According to public personnel change information, the three co-founders of Kumo, including former Airbnb Chief Technology Officer Vanja Josifovski, renowned Stanford University professor Yury Laskov, and former LinkedIn AI head Hema Ragavan, have officially joined NVIDIA as of May this year.

The core competitiveness of this startup lies in its self-developed KumoRFM foundation model, which is specifically designed for structured business data in enterprise data warehouses and excels at handling predictive problems. By combining graph machine learning technology with synthetic data generated in simulated enterprise environments, Kumo has successfully overcome the bottlenecks of traditional data training. Its client base already includes many industry giants such as DoorDash, Reddit, and Databricks.

The Latest Key Piece in Building a Full-Stack Ecosystem

In practical applications, the KumoRFM model has demonstrated astonishing computing efficiency. It can make precise predictions on complex business issues such as customer churn and credit default risk without any additional training. Enterprise customers can further improve the overall prediction accuracy by about 10% by fine-tuning the model with their own unique data, which provides strong technical support for NVIDIA's expansion into enterprise-level foundational model applications.

This acquisition not only brings NVIDIA exclusive proprietary model assets but also further strengthens its comprehensive layout in the full-stack AI ecosystem. In recent years, to build a solid technological moat, NVIDIA has successively acquired more than 100 distinctive startups. The addition of Kumo undoubtedly enhances its influence in the field of enterprise-level structured data prediction.
