Recently, the incident of cultural relics photos taken with a mobile phone being automatically listed for sale on Xianyu has attracted attention. Ms. Gu discovered that a photo of an artifact from the Shaanxi History Museum, which she had taken, appeared on the Xianyu platform and was priced at 6,000 yuan for sale after receiving a private message from an online friend.

Ms. Gu stated that she did not actively post the item. At first, she suspected that the platform had accessed her phone's album and automatically listed the item. After contacting Xianyu customer service, the response was that the photo might have been uploaded to "Xianyu Space," thus triggering the product listing function.

However, Ms. Gu did not accept this explanation. She said she did not remember uploading the photo to "Xianyu Space." Even if there was an accidental upload, the platform should not directly package the photo into a product for public sale without clear confirmation. More surprisingly, the system not only automatically generated a price but also used AI to create product descriptions such as "natural overall glaze" and "suitable for collection or display."

"You dare to sell the museum's treasured artifact for 6,000 yuan, but even 600 million yuan would not sell it." Ms. Gu questioned, if the photo was automatically listed and sold, would they have to deliver it from the museum?

Regarding the controversy, Xianyu customer service responded on May 31, stating that "Xianyu Space" is a new feature launched by the platform, aimed at helping users break through the daily limit of 50 items per ordinary account, making it easier to sell more idle items. As for why the photo was automatically converted into a product and generated sales information, the platform has not yet provided further explanations.

After the incident was exposed, it sparked widespread public discussion about platform permissions management, user authorization mechanisms, and the boundaries of AI-generated product content.
