For professionals and students who frequently handle large volumes of documents, accurately naming files has always been a troublesome issue. Facing meaningless file names composed of garbled text, dates, or default prefixes, it's like searching for a needle in a haystack when trying to find them later. To completely solve this pain point, Microsoft recently announced that it will introduce a major upgrade to its OneDrive cloud storage service, officially launching an AI-based automatic file renaming feature.

Context-Aware Intelligent Generation of Descriptive Titles

This new feature is called "Suggested Rename," and its underlying technology is fully supported by Microsoft's powerful Microsoft Copilot AI assistant. Unlike simple batch naming tools on the market, this AI assistant can deeply understand the specific content of the file and generate clear, easy-to-understand, and highly descriptive file names based on the context. In practice, the system silently scans files in the background and intelligently provides three distinct naming options for users to choose freely.

Comprehensive Support for Popular Formats with Web Version Launch

This highly anticipated AI feature is expected to go live in June this year, supporting a wide range of file types. It not only covers Microsoft's own Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other office documents but also fully supports mainstream formats such as PDF, Markdown, and PNG, JPEG. However, it should be noted that to ensure the system's lightweight and response speed, this feature will initially only be available on the OneDrive web version upon release.
