As the Gaokao approaches, news that "AI tools will be disabled during the Gaokao period" has sparked widespread attention online. In response to concerns from students and parents about whether functions such as photo-based problem solving and question answering will be restricted, several major domestic AI companies, including ByteDance's Douyin, Tencent's Yuanbao, Baidu's Wenyi, and iFlytek, have recently made public statements.

From the responses of these platforms, it is clear that in order to safeguard the fairness and impartiality of the Gaokao, restricting or suspending related problem-solving and tutoring services during the exam period has become a common consensus among industry large models.

Mainstream Tools Clearly Restrict Services

The customer service of Douyin, a subsidiary of ByteDance, clearly stated that although the app can be logged in normally during the Gaokao period, functions such as photo-based problem solving and tutoring will be directly disabled. The platform takes such measures every year during the Gaokao period. A staff member from Tencent Yuanbao also confirmed that the platform continues last year's management regulations, and will not provide answer services during the exam period and will suspend all service requests related to the Gaokao.

In contrast, a representative from Baidu said that they have not yet received specific notifications about restrictions on some functions of Wenyi. Meanwhile, a staff member from iFlytek said that although there has been no official notice yet, as long as it is a large model product, it will generally face different levels of restrictions during the Gaokao period.

Industry Practice Upholds Fairness

In fact, imposing restrictions on the "image recognition for problem solving" function of AI tools during the Gaokao period has become a common practice in the domestic technology industry. During last year's Gaokao, several popular AI applications, including Tongyi Qianwen and Kimi, collectively stopped responding to questions from test papers using image recognition functions, and clearly indicated on their pages: "To ensure Gaokao fairness, this function cannot be used during the Gaokao period."

Aside from AI tools actively building technical barriers against cheating, major internet platforms are also intensifying supervision. Main content platforms such as Douyin have publicly stated that they will crack down on content such as "AI prediction of questions" and "cheating services" that use Gaokao traffic for illegal promotion during the Gaokao period, striving to create a fair and clean testing environment for all candidates.
