OpenAI announced that ChatGPT has been officially integrated into Microsoft PowerPoint, allowing users to create new slides or edit and update existing presentations through natural language instructions. Similar to other ChatGPT features, this service supports extracting materials from connected enterprise services such as Gmail, Outlook, and SharePoint to generate content. The feature is currently in the testing phase and is available to most users, including free users and ChatGPT Business subscribers.

This integration marks further penetration of OpenAI into the enterprise productivity tools market. Previously, ChatGPT had been integrated into Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, and the addition of PowerPoint completes its layout in core document processing scenarios. Notably, the competitor Anthropic has offered similar presentation features in its Claude chatbot since September 2024, and Google Gemini has also deeply integrated with Google Slides. In terms of industry competition, OpenAI is accelerating to catch up with and imitate competitors' core features, a strategy potentially related to its possible high valuation IPO preparations.
AI office automation is evolving from single-text processing to multi-modal, full-process collaboration. Leading vendors are competing for enterprise user access by embedding into mainstream productivity suites. OpenAI's move not only strengthens ChatGPT's position as a central hub for enterprise workflows but also reflects that the competition in AI application layers has shifted from model capabilities to the depth of ecosystem integration and the breadth of scenario coverage.
