Google officially released the new Gemini Intelligence on May 13, announcing that this AI capability will be deeply integrated into Android 17. This move marks the evolution of Android from a traditional operating system to a true "intelligent system." The first compatible models include the Samsung Galaxy S26 and Google Pixel 10 series.

The core of this update is to promote automation across applications. Gemini Intelligence will be rolled out in batches starting this summer, and will later expand to all types of Android devices, including smartwatches, in-vehicle systems, and smart glasses.

Reimagining Interaction Logic

Gemini Intelligence focuses on multi-step task handling across applications, automatically completing tedious processes such as shopping, hailing a taxi, or booking a restaurant. Users only need to long-press the power key or take a photo to trigger instructions, and the AI assistant will run in the background and provide real-time updates on progress.

To improve input efficiency, the Gboard input method now includes a voice polishing feature that automatically converts natural speech into concise text. At the same time, Android introduced a natural language customizable widget, allowing users to generate personalized desktop components for weather or recipes by simply describing them verbally.

Prioritizing Privacy and Experience

In terms of design, Gemini Intelligence features a new visual animation aimed at reducing distractions during user operations. Google emphasized that all AI automation must be confirmed by the user, ensuring that machine actions remain under human control at all times.

Data security remains a top priority for Google. The company has committed to protecting user privacy throughout the provision of generative AI features. Although these features are still in the experimental phase, their demonstrated cross-device collaboration capabilities signal that the Android ecosystem is about to enter a full-scene AI era.
