Recently, Elon Musk's AI startup xAI officially rebranded as SpaceXAI, and soon after, a major news broke: the company is preparing to launch a desktop programming application called Grok Build.
This revelation came from an "accident" on the Grok web version. Today, a button named "Grok Computer" briefly appeared on the web interface. Although this feature was quickly taken down within a short period, during its brief appearance, users could see a control that allowed them to choose between the Grok Computer folder and Google Drive. Although the underlying functionality was not yet activated at the time, this leak clearly signaled that SpaceXAI's release deployment has entered the final sprint phase.

Currently, some internal test users have already had the chance to experience Grok Build. According to reports, this application will cover the three major mainstream systems: macOS, Linux, and Windows. In terms of market positioning, Grok Build directly targets Anthropic's Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex desktop version. Its core logic is not simply chat-based conversation, but rather focuses on "agent-driven autonomous programming workflows."
In terms of technical architecture, Grok Build demonstrates strong professionalism and scalability. It supports plugins, MCP (Model Context Protocol), and skill modules, and can deeply integrate with Git code repositories. Developers can use it to start development servers, access information through an integrated browser, and manage the local file system. Additionally, it features a multi-step task planning mode, which can assist developers in handling complex programming challenges.
As for the driving force behind this tool, industry speculation suggests it is likely to be powered by the recently released Grok4.3 early access version. According to feedback from early testers, this model has made significant progress in front-end programming capabilities compared to previous versions. Although SpaceXAI has not officially announced the exact release schedule, with the recent accidental leak on the web version and the gradual distribution of internal test access, this desktop application aimed at revolutionizing the AI programming sector is clearly about to arrive.
