Recently, a survey report released by Gallup showed that nearly half of American employees use artificial intelligence technology at work at least occasionally. This proportion has increased from 46% in the previous quarter to a record high for the company. The survey covered over 23,700 employees, and the results show that the application of artificial intelligence is gradually penetrating the workplace and affecting organizational structures.

Among employees who frequently use artificial intelligence, the proportion of those using it daily rose from 12% to 13%, while the proportion using it multiple times a week increased from 26% to 28%. 41% of respondents said their employers have started introducing artificial intelligence within the company to improve efficiency, but only 26% of employees said their employers provided clear plans on how to integrate AI tools. This communication gap may affect the productivity gains brought by AI tools.

The survey also showed that among companies that actively use AI and clearly communicate information, 27% of employees reported significant changes in staff numbers recently, compared to 17% in companies that do not use AI. These changes include increases in hiring and layoffs, especially more pronounced in small and medium-sized enterprises.

Notably, although many employees believe AI has improved their efficiency, about two-thirds of respondents said the technology indeed helped them complete tasks faster. However, another report indicates that using AI also leads to wasted time. Employees waste an average of 7.9 hours per week trying to get these tools to work properly, which may include tedious tasks such as data transfer and adjusting prompts. This wasted time accumulates to an annual loss of 51 working days.

In today's era of widespread AI use, companies should pay attention not only to the potential efficiency gains of new technologies but also to how effectively they are integrated and communicated to maximize their impact.
