As the most popular content recommendation platform in China, Xiaohongshu is clearly not satisfied with just being a "content curator," but rather wants to directly get involved and "boost" the productivity of influencers. On February 9th, Xiaohongshu technical team is secretly developing an AI video editing product called OpenStoryline, with the current version number already updated to 1.0.0.

The core strength of this product is "conversational editing."

Different from traditional editing software with dense timelines and complex filter parameters, OpenStoryline is centered around an AI agent. This means that in the future, you might only need to talk to the AI about your creative ideas, and it will automatically understand and complete the editing work. This "speak and produce" method is like a lifeline for bloggers who pursue high-frequency updates.

In terms of market positioning, Xiaohongshu has targeted top competitors.

It is reported that the functional positioning of OpenStoryline is highly similar to "Xiaoyunque" under ByteDance's JiMeng and "Seko 2.0" by SenseTime. This marks that video editing is entering a new phase of "intelligentization and lightweight." Major players are all competing to lower the threshold for video production as much as possible.

Notably, Xiaohongshu has left a "surprise": open source.

Although the product is still in the internal testing phase, Xiaohongshu stated that it may consider making the project open source in the future. If truly realized, this would not only benefit a wide range of developers but could also trigger a wave of technological inclusiveness in the AI video tool field.

Backed by the vast content ecosystem of Hangying Information Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., will OpenStoryline eventually become the "standard" for short video creation? We'll see.
