Facing increasing pressure from OpenAI and Google in the field of generative AI, Apple is preparing its most significant "evolution" plan for its voice assistant since its launch ten years ago. According to AIbase, Apple plans to transform Siri into a natural language AI chatbot in the upcoming iOS 27 to be released in 2026.

The new version of Siri, internally called "Campos," will break away from the previous limitations of only responding to simple commands. At that time, the interaction experience of Siri will be on par with ChatGPT, supporting more fluid natural language voice communication, and introducing a text input mode, allowing users to freely switch interaction methods based on scenarios.

In terms of functional depth, the new Siri will be deeply integrated into the core layer of iOS. It will not only perform web searches and content summaries but also have advanced capabilities such as image creation, programming assistance, and in-depth file analysis. More excitingly, the new Siri is expected to gain "visual" capabilities, enabling it to identify content on the user's current screen and perform complex operations based on that, such as adjusting settings or processing information within specific applications according to context.

Notably, Apple is considering using a customized model based on Google Gemini to power some chat functions. However, while enhancing "memory" to achieve personalization, Apple still maintains its privacy standards and may limit Siri's access to users' long-term conversation history.
