Huawei plans to officially launch its next-generation AI glasses in the first half of 2026. The product not only continues audio functions but also integrates high-definition photography capabilities for the first time, and is deeply equipped with the HarmonyOS system, supporting cross-device collaboration and real-time simultaneous interpretation, among other cutting-edge AI experiences. This product marks a key step for Huawei in moving from "auditory intelligence" to a fully integrated smart glasses solution that combines "visual + auditory + interaction" scenarios.

The new product continues Huawei's lightweight design philosophy, yet it houses three high-density lithium batteries internally, significantly enhancing battery life to cope with the power consumption challenges brought by AI computing. Users can directly take photos, answer calls, and play music through the glasses, and leverage HarmonyOS's distributed capabilities to seamlessly access computing resources from their phone, tablet, or PC. More notably, its real-time simultaneous interpretation function allows the glasses to instantly convert foreign language speech into Chinese subtitles or voice announcements in international meetings or travel scenarios, truly achieving "what you hear is what you understand."

This is not Huawei's first attempt at smart glasses. In 2021, it partnered with Gentle Monster to launch its first audio smart glasses, focusing on open-ear listening and fashion design. This new product, however, upgrades to an "AI entry-level device," aiming to establish it as the third major personal smart terminal after phones and watches.

The market has shown strong confidence in this direction. IDC predicts that China's smart glasses shipment will reach 2.907 million units in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 121.1%, indicating that the industry is moving from the early trial stage into the pre-explosion phase of mass adoption. HSBC further points out that the market is still in its early expansion phase, and by the late 2030s, the global smart glasses user base is expected to surge from 15 million in 2025 to 289 million, growing more than 18 times.

Amid Apple's Vision Pro focusing on AR headsets and Meta betting on metaverse glasses, Huawei chooses to enter daily scenarios with "lightweight, practical, and AI-native" features, avoiding the pitfalls of bulky hardware and fragmented ecosystems. With the improvement of large model deployment capabilities on the edge, future AI glasses may become a mobile "personal assistant"—they do not block vision, yet they can understand the world, comprehend language, and remember important moments.

When glasses are no longer just tools for correcting vision, but transparent windows to the intelligent world, Huawei's "AI eyes" might be the starting point of the next generation of human-computer interaction.
