Recently, the company Anthropic released a new AI assistant tool called "Claude Cowork," whose development was almost entirely completed by the AI Claude itself, taking only ten days. Designed to provide a more simple and user-friendly AI tool for ordinary users, especially those without programming knowledge, Claude Cowork is positioned as the "non-coding version of Claude Code," aiming to allow more people to easily enjoy the convenience brought by AI.
During the development process, Claude generated most of the code, while human engineers mainly focused on overall architecture design, task breakdown, and final review. This new development model undoubtedly demonstrates the great potential of AI in the software development field. Product manager Felix Rieseberg revealed during a live stream that the team's goal was to deliver the first version within just ten days and successfully achieve it.
Currently, Claude Cowork is available in a research preview form for Mac app users of Claude Max. The core features of this tool include accessing local files, automatically performing various tasks, organizing materials, and generating reports. Users who have tried it have expressed that Claude Cowork can efficiently handle daily office tasks, such as automatically cleaning files, developing marketing plans, handling emails, and organizing data, greatly improving work efficiency.
However, Anthropic also warned users when releasing Claude Cowork that it has the ability to perform potentially destructive operations, such as deleting files, and therefore users need to provide clear instructions and be cautious with authorization during use. Although this warning may cause some concern, it also reflects the responsibilities and risks that AI tools bear in their work.
In summary, the release of Claude Cowork marks an important step forward in the application of artificial intelligence in daily work. Whether for ordinary users or professionals, this tool brings new possibilities for future work methods.
