According to AI Technology Review, leading company in embodied intelligence Zhiyuan Robotics has completed the spin-off of its dexterous hand business, establishing a new company named "Threshold". The company is led by Xiong Kun, the head of Zhiyuan's dexterous hand business and former expert at Tencent Robotics X Lab, and has recently completed its first round of funding.

This spin-off comes with a deep restructuring of Zhiyuan's internal organization. Currently, Zhiyuan's internal business is divided into three BUs:

  • "Expedition" product line: led by Wang Chuang, former head of DJI Livo LiDAR;

  • "Lingxi" product line: led by co-founder Zhizhunjun;

  • "Genie" product line: led by Yao Maoying, former engineering director at NIO.

    Dexterous hands are key for robots to perform precise operations. This independent operation is seen as an important signal for Zhiyuan to accelerate professionalization and commercialization cycle.

Zhiyuan Robotics' commercialization process is accelerating. According to Zhu Jie, the company's government affairs director, by the end of 2025, the total shipment has exceeded 5,100 units, and it is expected that 2026 will see a significant leap in volume, with shipments potentially reaching tens of thousands of units.

In terms of revenue, CEO and founder Deng Taihua said that the company's revenue in 2024 was in the tens of millions of yuan, while the revenue in 2025 is expected to exceed 1 billion yuan
