Generative AI is penetrating the game development industry at an unprecedented speed. According to the latest Steam sales chart, half of the top ten best-selling games worldwide are developed by studios that have openly embraced AI technology. This data strongly proves that, although discussions about AI in the industry remain controversial, this technology has become an indispensable productivity tool for major titles.

Currently, three games on the list have explicitly used AI technology. For example, "Arc Raiders" and "Yan Yun Sixteen Sounds" (Where Winds Meet) have admitted in their Steam page description that they use AI to assist with NPC voice work. Meanwhile, the highly anticipated RPG newcomer "Clair Obscur: Expedition33" tried using AI to generate art assets during the early development phase. Although this approach caused some issues and even led to its recent disqualification from an independent game award, it is undeniable that AI has deeply rooted itself in its creative process.

Aside from these implemented cases, other major titles on the list are also actively exploring AI. The developer of the well-known "Baldur's Gate 3," Larian Studios, has confirmed that they will explore the possibilities of AI in the pre-research phase of their new project, "Divinity." At the same time, Warhorse Studios, the developer of "Kingdoms of the Shattered Sky 2," has also expressed an open attitude towards AI technology. As industry veterans like Hideo Kojima have also spoken out about the impact of AI on the future, generative AI is transitioning from a topic of discussion in the industry into a practical tool driving the production of AAA titles.
