At a recent media conference, NVIDIA announced a collaboration with European AI provider Nscale to establish new AI infrastructure in the UK. This partnership plans to deploy 300,000 of NVIDIA's latest Grace Blackwell GPUs globally, including 60,000 in the UK. This investment aims to promote the UK's independent development in artificial intelligence, making it a leading center for AI technology worldwide.

The collaboration between NVIDIA and Nscale is not only technical support but also financial investment. The two parties will jointly invest approximately $13 billion to deploy the largest GPU shipment in Europe — 120,000 Blackwell GPUs — in data centers in England and Scotland. This plan is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. David Hogan, Vice President of NVIDIA, stated that this investment will make the UK not only a consumer of AI technology but also a producer of AI technology.

Analyst Nick Patience pointed out that NVIDIA's investment comes at an opportune time. The UK has abundant talent and venture capital in the AI field, but has long lacked the corresponding infrastructure. He believes that with the progress of this investment, the UK will have the largest number of GPUs in Europe, which will effectively promote the development of local AI technology.

In addition, Omdia analyst Torsten Volk said that building large GPU clusters in the UK by NVIDIA will attract more investments, involving fiber optic connections, energy networks, renewable energy, and the construction of data centers and talent recruitment. He emphasized that the pressure on the government to attract such investments will promote larger-scale infrastructure construction.

Despite the positive prospects, this investment also faces some challenges. Patience pointed out that Nscale needs to solve the issue of funding sources. Last year, Nscale raised $155 million, while it plans to raise $2.7 billion over the next three years. Another challenge is the impact of Brexit, which has increased the difficulty of attracting European talent, making it more complex to build an appropriate talent team.

Aside from NVIDIA, Microsoft also announced that it will invest $3 billion in the UK's AI infrastructure between 2025 and 2028, with $1.5 billion allocated for the construction of cloud computing and AI infrastructure.

Key Points:

- 💰 NVIDIA and Nscale will jointly invest approximately $13 billion to deploy 120,000 GPUs in UK data centers.

- 🌍 This investment will make the UK a producer of global AI technology and promote the construction of local AI infrastructure.

- 📈 Challenges include funding sources and talent recruitment issues, especially after Brexit.
